Look and Feel

D2 has gone for a simple, minimalistic look for its new product. More inclined towards performance and features, the tablet comes in a simple black finish. It is sleek, light and super portable that makes it fun and easy to carry around. With this device, you can read a book or watch videos anytime, anywhere.D2 Tablet PC Back View

  • The front is black while the back it white. An unusual combination of colors yet pleasing to the eye.
  • Not a splash of bright colors, but a subtle blending of both ends of the color spectrum.
  • The tab has a sturdy build, the kind that will last you a while even with rough use.
  • The display is a 7 inch capacitive multi-ptouch screen with a 800X480 WVGA resolution.
  • An inbuilt G-Sensor provides orientation sensing in the device.

Performance of D2 Tablet PC

The device runs Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, a decent offering in a low cost tablet.

  • Powered by an Allwinner A10 1.2 GHz processor, the device integrates well with the software to provide smooth and seamless app switching.
  • There is no noticeable lag or sluggishness.
  • Slightly better than the Elsse Android tablet, D2 has managed to provide a 1 GB DDR3 RAM, 4GB internal memory expandable up to 32 GB with a microSD card.
  • The tablet also features a built in speaker and microphone and a slightly disappointing 0.3 megapixel front camera. 1.3 MP would be nice. The battery is a huge plus though.
  • The 3000mAh battery provides a running life of 6 hours with normal usage before it has to be recharged.

Quick List of Features

The tablet from D2 does not ship with many features but it is Android based and supports a range of apps from Google’s PlayStore. It comes in with a surprising basket of apps like Fruit Ninja, Adobe Flash player, Adobe PDF reader, Aldiko eBook reader, Angry birds, Amazon kindle and MP3 apps and other interesting apps.D2 Tablet PC Side View

The tablet supports a variety of document, eBook, audio and video formats including mp3, wma, mpeg, flv, 1080p, jpeg, gif, bmp, png, epub and pdf to name a few. Connectivity is via miniUSB and Wi-Fi. The device is sadly missing Bluetooth which would have been a nice addition to the set.

The Verdict

Surprising features in a tablet that is so affordable! The range of file formats and apps preloaded in the tablet is unexpected yet a nice surprise. The specs of the tablet are pretty good for its budget label. Better than most in the market today which are low cost Tablet PCs.

The camera could have been upgraded a bit but the 7 inch tab from D2 is essentially for carrying around to watch movies and read books and of course, browse. Neat product from D2, definitely recommended for all those who want a good features at a good price.
